The news report in Times of India has reported that researchers have linked shopping addiction to symptoms of depression and low self-esteem in women who may use shopping as an escape mechanism to cope with unpleasant feelings. They found the people who scored high in the personality traits such as extroversion and neuroticism are more prone to develop shopping addiction. On the other hand people who are conscientious, agreeable and who like new and intellectual stimuli are less at risk from shopping addiction, researchers said.
